Cycling weather in Mallorca
Mallorca is one of Europe's top cycling destinations — but the Tramuntana mountains create a sharp divide between the sheltered east and the more exposed northwest coast. Wind, rain and temperature can vary significantly across a single ride. Knowing what to expect on each climb matters.

Why a city forecast isn't enough
A Palma weather forecast tells you nothing about conditions on the Puerto de Sóller or Cap de Formentor. Mountain ridges, coastal exposure and north-facing ascents behave differently from the city. RouteWeather maps conditions to your GPS line so you always know what's ahead.
What changes along a long route
- Wind speed and direction change across passes and valleys
- Temperature drops ~6–7 °C per 1000 m of elevation gain
- Rain and storm timing differs from city to mountain
- Your start time determines whether you ride into headwind or tailwind
- Weather windows shift depending on how long your ride takes

What is the best time of year to cycle in Mallorca?
March–May and October–November are the golden windows — mild temperatures, less traffic and generally stable weather. Summers are hot with occasional strong winds on the exposed northwest coast. Winter riding is possible but wet periods are more common. Check RouteWeather for hourly conditions.
How does wind affect cycling in Mallorca?
The Tramuntana acts as a wind barrier — the northwest coast gets the full force of northerly winds while the sheltered east can be calm. On crossings of the Serra de Tramuntana the wind can change direction and intensity several times. Seeing wind-per-segment helps you plan the climb and descent.
Does weather change along a long route?
Significantly. The south, east, mountains and north coast can each have distinct conditions on the same day. Route-based weather shows you every transition so you can dress appropriately and choose the right start time.
